We liked finding strange little websites, so we hid cards on them.

Wanderlust is a card game. People who run small sites make a deck of cards and put a pack on their pages. You visit, open the pack, and keep the card. After a while your binder is a record of everywhere you’ve been.

Wanderer · GuideRare

Explore. Reveal the top card of a linked site; if it is a place, draw it.

Every dead link is just a map to somewhere newer.

Radiance. When Aurelith enters the field, banish the top card of every shadow and gain +1 light for each.

She rose where the last night broke, and the horizon never dimmed again.

Haste. Discovered twice as often on pages older than the collector.

It lives in the margins of a guestbook nobody signs anymore.

People used to click around the web.

You followed a webring from one odd homepage to the next. You signed guestbooks. You found a whole site about one person’s favourite moth, and you bookmarked it.

Those sites are still there. Most of us just stopped going to look. We scroll the same few feeds, and anything they don’t show us might as well not exist.

So we gave clicking around a small reward. A site can hide a pack, the pack holds cards its owner made, and the only way to finish a set is to visit the sites behind it.

What we promise

01

Sites can't rig the odds

A site never decides what drops. Every pack is rolled on our server, against the rarities its owner picked. A Legendary is exactly as rare as the deck says.

02

Collecting sends people to real sites

Every set lists the sites it drops on. To finish one you have to go and visit them, so the people who make small websites get visitors out of it.

03

Made for small sites

Making a deck and putting it on your site costs nothing. We built this for personal sites, zines and webrings first.

04

Your binder is yours

Nobody sees your collection until you share it. Share it, and other collectors can look through it and offer you trades.

What we won’t do

Sell packs
You can't pay for packs, better odds or a particular card. You get cards by visiting sites, and by trading.
Show ads
There are no ads here, and the pack doesn't put any on the sites that host it.
Follow you around
We don't use trackers. The browser extension only checks pages for a pack, and only tells us which site you opened one on.
Turn cards into money
Cards aren't crypto or NFTs, and there's nothing to cash out. They're for collecting and trading.

This is a beta

Wanderlust is in a closed beta with a small group of collectors and site owners. Things will change, and some of them will break. When something feels wrong, or you have an idea, tell us: the people playing now are deciding what this becomes.

Two ways to play

Collect cards from other people’s sites, or put a pack on yours. How it works
